The Indian festive season generally starts with Ganesha Chaturthi in early September and extends till mid-November, the end of Diwali. Indian companies pay bonuses during this time. The Kharif crop season also usually ends by mid-October, bringing money into the rural economy. Also, usually people save round the year for the festive season shopping. All of these lead to increased economic activity, as Indian consumers go on a shopping spree. This Safal Nivesh consists of companies from different sectors like Paints, Apparel & Retail, Gold, Realty, Multiplexes and Media which are expected to benefit from this increased activity during the festive season. Only fundamentally sound companies with good prospects are selected from these sectors. As an additional check, we have only selected companies which tend to outperform the market during the festive season, by checking for historical returns.
